The other column of the ledger: what you pay for apart

Updated 4 November 2026

What is not included in a Komodo boat trip on Vhale: the park package, flights, hotels before and after, alcoholic drinks and tips, plus the guide and the photographer when you charter the whole boat. The 3D2N fare of IDR 148,000,000 (≈ USD 9,080) stops at that line.

Outside the fare: the inventory, item by item

A fare is easiest to trust when the other column is written as carefully as the first. On Vhale, whichever way you board, these lines sit outside the price:

  • The Komodo National Park package for your trip type.
  • Flights to and from Labuan Bajo.
  • Hotels before and after the trip.
  • Alcoholic drinks.
  • Tips for the crew and the guide.
  • The guide and the photographer, when you charter the whole boat.

A payment by card link also adds 3 percent to the sum. Each of these is explained in the sections that follow, in the same order, so that nothing waits for you at the pier.

Included

  • Hotel or airport transfer in Labuan Bajo, before and after the trip
  • The boat: 12 air-conditioned cabins, crew of nine
  • Meals on board (full board)
  • Snacks, and free-flow mineral water, tea, coffee, milk and juice
  • Snorkelling gear and life jackets
  • 2 paddle boards
  • Speaker and karaoke set
  • Open trip: tour guide and photo/video documentation (mirrorless, drone, GoPro) included; private charter: on request, quoted separately

Not included

  • Komodo National Park package (entrance ticket, ranger and local levies)
  • Flights to and from Labuan Bajo
  • Hotels before and after the trip
  • Alcoholic drinks
  • Tips for the crew and guide
  • Private charter: guide and photo/video documentation (available on request, quoted separately)

Komodo National Park package per guest: 3D2N: IDR 650,000 per foreign guest, IDR 350,000 per Indonesian guest; 4D3N: IDR 750,000 per foreign guest, IDR 350,000 per Indonesian guest. It includes the government entrance ticket, the ranger fee and local levies.

Entry to the national park

Entry to the national park is never inside a fare, on the boat entire or in a single seat. We quote it as a package by trip type, which bundles the park's own tickets with the ranger and local levies for your route, and the amount is on your quote before you pay.

For scale: the park's own daily ticket is IDR 250,000 for a passport from abroad, and IDR 50,000, or IDR 75,000 on a Saturday or Sunday, for an Indonesian one. These are the park's own figures, for scale; the park package for this trip type is quoted in writing, and the package is what you pay. We do not quote any other company's park figure, and the park page works out the sum for your party.

One package covers the government entrance ticket (IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, PP 36/2024), the ranger fee and the local levies. It is quoted per guest, separately for each trip type, and paid on top of the boat price. For other trip lengths, the desk quotes the package with your booking.

Flights, hotels and what lies either side of the trip

Flights are yours to book, and so are the hotels on either side. The fare sends a car for you before the trip and takes you back after it; the beds on the nights either side it leaves to you.

The night before matters more than the night after. Come the evening before, and a late plane costs you supper rather than Kelor and Rinca. Do not take the earliest flight on boarding day. On the way home, the 3D2N trip ends around 12:00 at the quay, and a flight after 14:00 leaves the margin the sea asks for.

Tips, drinks and small purchases

Tips for the crew and for the guide are outside the fare. We set no figure, since a number here would become a rule, and a tip is a thing you decide at the quay on the last morning. Ask us if you want our advice, and we give it.

Alcoholic drinks are not in any fare, so ask us before you pack whether your own is welcome. Water, tea, coffee, milk and juice flow without a counter and are inside. For the rest, small purchases are yours: sunblock, personal medicines, sunglasses, a hat and some emergency cash in rupiah. The snorkel gear is supplied.

Guide and photographer, priced apart when you hire the boat entire

Buy a seat on the open trip and a guide and the photographs come with it. Hire the whole boat and both become extras, each quoted on its own if you want it. We say this twice on this site because it is the one place where the two ways aboard differ in what they carry.

If your party wants a guide or a photographer on a charter, tell us at the first message, and we put a figure beside each before you decide. If you want neither, nothing is lost. The boat, the crew of 9 and the sea go on as before.

What we quote separately

A few things we quote separately, as they arise. The park package comes with your quote by trip type. The extra bed in an Atlantic, Azure or Oceanic cabin is by request, and its price is put in writing before any payment. A larger vehicle for a larger party is arranged on request.

Fares for 2027 are confirmed in writing. Any line we add to a quote carries a name and a number. A quote with nothing to explain is the only kind worth sending.

FAQ

What else will I pay for apart from the fare?

The park package for your trip type, flights, hotels before and after, alcoholic drinks and tips. Hire the whole boat and add the guide and the photographer to that list. A card link adds 3 percent.

Do I need cash for the park, or is it paid in advance?

Your quote says whether the park package is added to the invoice or collected in rupiah at the harbour. Every park ticket carries a visitor's own name, which is why we ask for passports first. Bring some rupiah either way, since not every card works.

How much should I tip the crew?

Tips are outside the fare and no figure is set. The amount is yours to decide at the quay on the last morning. Ask us for our advice, but nothing is expected.
