Two days, one night at anchor, and Padar at first light

Updated 4 November 2026

A Komodo 2 days 1 night all inclusive boat trip on Vhale keeps to the route: Kelor, Rinca and Kalong first, then Padar at sunrise, Pink Beach and two snorkel stops, home at 17:30. The whole boat costs IDR 118,750,000 (≈ USD 7,285), or IDR 4,950,000 (≈ USD 304) a head at twenty-four.

Kelor, Rinca and Kalong fill day one; Padar waits for the second dawn

The first day starts with a pickup from your hotel or from the airport before an 11:00 start, and the lunch is already served on board by the time Labuan Bajo is a line on the horizon. The boat sails to Kelor for the first stretch of legs, goes on to Rinca for a walk among the dragons, and saves the best of the light for Kalong, where sunset and the bats arrive together and dinner follows on board.

Padar waits for the second dawn, and that is the whole difference between this route and a day excursion: the ridge belongs to first light, and a party that slept at anchor within reach of it climbs while the sky is still cool. July brings the sunrise over Padar at 06:18, and each month shifts it. The route is fixed, though the weather keeps the final say.

These stops swap order with tide and wind: Manta Point ⇄ Taka Makassar.

Times are operating patterns, not a timetable. Pickup is the only promise we make by the clock.

The second morning: Pink Beach, Taka Makassar and the mantas

On the second day the route comes down from the ridge to the water. After the Padar walk there is breakfast on board, and then Pink Beach for the beach time the route allows, with lunch on board after it. The afternoon belongs to two snorkel stops: Taka Makassar first, then Manta Point.

Manta Point carries the mantas' name without promising them, since they are wild and keep their own hours. Snorkel gear is on board and inside the fare, and the sea decides how long each stop lasts. After Manta Point the boat turns for Labuan Bajo. A small route, and a complete one.

The two-day fare, written out

The whole boat for two days and one night costs IDR 118,750,000 (≈ USD 7,285), one sum for any party from one to 28 guests. At twenty-four guests that is IDR 4,950,000 (≈ USD 304) a head. Below twenty we give no per-head figure, the fare having been written for a full table.

The ledger runs in its usual order. Inside the fare: the car from your hotel or the airport and back, the meals and snacks on board, the water, tea, coffee, milk and juice, the snorkel gear, and the boat with her crew of 9. Outside it sit the park package for the 2D1N, quoted in writing before you pay, flights, hotels either side, alcoholic drinks and tips. When you charter, the guide and the group's photographs are on request and quoted apart.

The single night, spent at anchor wherever the captain judges best

From the first dinner to the second breakfast the boat rests at anchor, and the captain decides where once the weather is in view. We do not name the anchorage in advance. It is decided at the end of the afternoon, with the wind and the swell in front of the captain, and nothing written a month earlier would improve on it.

The night itself is a plain pleasure. The outdoor dining room is still warm from dinner, the day bed in the chill area has been claimed by whoever arrived first, and the cabins are air-conditioned for those who want them. If the night temperature matters to you, say so when booking. Sleep, then Padar.

Back at the quay by half past five

The 2D1N route ends at the quay in Labuan Bajo around 17:30 on the second day, and the hotel or airport drop-off follows. That is the scheduled time, and a boat that spent the afternoon between two reefs is not one to hurry.

Book the flight home for the evening, with a generous margin past 17:30, or stay one more night in town and fly the next day. The earliest flight on boarding day and the tightest one on the way home share one fault, which is that they trust the sea to keep time.

FAQ

What does two days and one night cost on a private boat?

The whole of Vhale for 2D1N costs IDR 118,750,000 (≈ USD 7,285), the same for one guest or 28. At twenty-four guests that is IDR 4,950,000 (≈ USD 304) a head. The park package, flights, hotels, alcoholic drinks and tips are outside, and the guide and documentation are on request.

Where do we meet the dragons on the two-day route?

The route walks Rinca, where the dragons live. Kelor and Kalong frame the first day; the second belongs to Padar, Pink Beach and the two snorkels at Taka Makassar and Manta Point. Dragons are wild, and no sighting is guaranteed.

When is the two-day trip back at the quay, and what flight is safe?

The trip starts at 11:00 and ends around 17:30 at the quay in Labuan Bajo. Book an evening flight with a generous margin, or fly the next morning. We confirm the pickup time and send the driver's contact the day before.
