Vhale Phinisi

What all inclusive really covers, tested on one named boat

Updated 4 November 2026

A luxury phinisi in Komodo earns the words all inclusive only through a list. On Vhale the 3D2N fare of IDR 148,000,000 (≈ USD 9,080) carries transfers, meals, snacks, drinks on the tap and snorkel gear, and names what it leaves out. At twenty-four guests it comes to IDR 6,170,000 (≈ USD 379) a head.

Ask for the ledger

What the words all inclusive really cover on Vhale

The phrase all inclusive has been spent so freely on hotels that it now buys very little, and on boats even less, since every boat means something different by it. On Vhale it means a short list you can check. Your transfer to the quay and home again; every meal on board and the snacks between them; water, tea, coffee, milk and juice poured without a tally; the snorkel gear, the boat, the cabins and Vhale's crew of 9. That is the fare.

How generous that is depends on what you expected. Whoever assumed the park ticket was inside will find it is not, and whoever assumed a guide came with a private charter will find it is on request; the one unforgivable thing would be letting either discover this at the pier, which is why the list comes first.

The two-column ledger, in full

Here is the ledger, in two columns and in the same order wherever price appears on this site. Left column, what the fare carries; right column, what sits outside it.

On the left: hotel or airport transfer both ways, meals on board, snacks, free-flow mineral water, tea, coffee, milk and juice, snorkel gear, life jackets, the two paddle boards, the speaker and karaoke set, and the crew. On a Monday or Friday seat, add the guide and the group's photographs and film. On the right: the park package, flights, hotels before and after, alcoholic drinks and tips, and, on a whole-boat charter, the guide and the photographer, quoted only if asked for. Inclusive is a list, not an adjective.

The balcony cabins and the day bed

Two cabins on the boat have a private balcony, and both are Atlantic. Up on the top deck, next to the two Azure cabins, each Atlantic holds a queen bed and a bathroom of its own, takes an extra bed if asked, and sleeps two to four. Ask for these doors first, because they go first. No other cabin is described by its view, because we describe only what we can show.

The rest of the comfort is shared, and that is where the boat is strongest. The outdoor chill area has a day bed that someone will claim by ten in the morning, the sundeck is open to everyone, and the two paddle boards are an argument waiting for an owner. At the long table in the outdoor dining room, the second coffee arrives without being asked, and nobody minds that the day bed is a matter for negotiation.

Three days, priced by the head

The three-day route makes the clearest example. On day one you are collected before an 11:00 start, lunch is on board, and the boat goes to Kelor, Rinca and Kalong. On day two the Padar ridge comes at sunrise, then Pink Beach, then two snorkel stops. On day three there is a last swim at Siaba or Sebayur and the quay by about 12:00.

The whole boat for those three days costs IDR 148,000,000 (≈ USD 9,080), one sum for any party up to 28. At twenty-four guests it divides to IDR 6,170,000 (≈ USD 379) a head, and the figure includes everything in the left column above. The park package stays outside it, and a charter that wants a guide or a photographer has them quoted separately. The single seats on the open trip run from IDR 4,450,000 (≈ USD 273) to IDR 8,950,000 (≈ USD 549).

The comfort we can name, and the comfort we leave unnamed

Comfort comes either as a claim you can check or as one you are asked to believe, and we offer only the first kind. The rooms are air-conditioned. Atlantic, Oceanic and Pacific cabins have their own bathrooms. There are two dining rooms, one indoors and one out, a day bed and a sundeck, a speaker with a karaoke set, a refrigerator and a water dispenser, and nine people in Vhale's crew.

Each cabin's bathroom detail comes to you in a written reply. For Azure and Coral cabins, ask us which bathroom arrangement your cabin has. A boat is honest when it names what it has, and we would rather leave a gap than stuff it with adjectives.

A verdict after the second coffee

With the ledger walked through, the verdict can be short. The fare is a list, the list is long on the left and plain on the right, and the boat is built for a big table, not a hush for two. If you want a private balcony, take an Atlantic cabin; if you want the whole boat, take twenty friends; if you want neither, take a seat.

Two concessions belong beside it. Coral cabins are bunk rooms, with one double and one single bed, which suit friends and children better than a couple wanting privacy. A party under twenty pays the same whole-boat fare, so for fewer people a seat is the kinder sum. Read the list first.
