Who owns the boat and who sells the voyage

Two parties stand behind a voyage on Vhale, and a guest is entitled to know which does what. The boat belongs to her owner in Labuan Bajo, who keeps her, crews her and decides whether she can sail on a given morning; we make no claim to own her. The voyage as you buy it, with the route, the fare in writing, the pickup, the park paperwork and the payment, is arranged by the reservation team of PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia.

The line matters in practice. A question about the sea, the anchorage or the weather goes to the captain through us, and a question about money or a date comes to us. If the boat itself fails you, the duty to put you on another of the same class or better for the same dates, or to refund you within 2 days, falls on us, because we took your payment. Whoever sells you a voyage should be able to tell you that in one breath. We can.

There is also a plain point about names. Komodo Explorer is the name on your invoice, Vhale is the name on the hull, and the two are not the same business.

Vhale's crew is nine people, a number that belongs to the boat's specification, and they belong to the boat and not to us, which is why this site calls them Vhale's crew. We do not list their roles. What we can say is what you will see: a captain who chooses the anchorage with the weather, hands who run the tender and serve the long table, and the same faces from the first lunch to the last coffee.

The captain's word on the sea outranks ours and outranks yours, and a stop dropped for weather is a stop dropped. That seems blunt, and it is also the reason to trust the boat.

We publish what we can source and write 'ask us' for the rest. Every figure on the site is read from the rate list as of 4 November 2026 or from the park's own rules, and where a detail is still open, such as the bathroom arrangement in two cabin kinds, the answer reaches you in writing ahead of payment. Photographs are the boat's own and carry no retouching.

On the question guests ask most, whether Komodo Explorer is real: the company, its registration number and its address are on the contact page and below it. The price of a voyage is paid to one bank account in the company's name, sent by invoice, and not to a person. Reviews on this site are real ones we can source, with the author's permission, and where we have none we show none.
