Vhale Phinisi

A journal kept at the long table

Updated 4 November 2026

Notes at the Long Table is the journal of the Vhale reservation team: short essays on what a three-day voyage is like once the plates are down, and on the dull questions that decide whether it goes well, such as flights, park tickets and which stop comes first.

Notes from the long table

A journal on a boat site has a bad habit of becoming a second sales leaflet, so this one has a rule. Every note starts from something a guest asked us or got wrong, and finishes before it turns into a pitch. The subjects are the ones that never fit on a price page: why the earliest flight to Labuan Bajo is a poor friend on the morning you sail, what a park ticket is and who holds it, how a table of twenty-odd people actually divides a day, and why the captain's choice of anchorage is a better thing to trust than a timetable.

The notes are short because the questions are. Each one can be read between the second coffee and the bill, and none of them promises a sea you cannot be promised. Where a note touches a price or a rule it uses the same figures as the rest of this site, and the figures move only when the rate list as of 4 November 2026 changes.

Recent notes

The newest notes sit below, each with its title, a line on what it covers and the date it went up. A guest asking the same thing twice is the usual reason a note gets written, so if a subject you need is missing, tell us on WhatsApp and it moves up the list. The ones that save somebody a bad morning at the airport are written first.
