Komodo private boat cost per person for 20, 24 or 28 guests
Updated 4 November 2026
Vhale's 3D2N whole-boat fare is IDR 148,000,000 (≈ USD 9,080). Split 20 ways that is IDR 7,400,000 (≈ USD 454) each, 24 ways IDR 6,170,000 (≈ USD 379), and 28 ways IDR 5,290,000 (≈ USD 325). These are our own sums, rounded to the nearest 10,000 rupiah, before the park package, flights and hotels.
The sum, stated once so you can check it
A whole-boat charter comes with one price and a great many opinions about how to split it. Vhale has a single fare per trip length for the whole vessel, labelled for parties of 20 to 30, and that same fare covers any party from one guest to 28 on standard beds. There is no per-head tier. The per-person figure is therefore not a quote but a division, and we label it as one.
The arithmetic is plain: whole-boat fare divided by the number of guests, rounded to the nearest 10,000 rupiah. The fares are those updated on 8 October 2026: IDR 93,300,000 (≈ USD 5,724) for the one-day trip, IDR 118,750,000 (≈ USD 7,285) for 2D1N, IDR 148,000,000 (≈ USD 9,080) for 3D2N and IDR 160,000,000 (≈ USD 9,816) for 4D3N.
A caveat on dates. We apply this list to sailings up to 31 December 2026, and the 2027 list has not been issued; until it is, 2027 dates follow the current figures, and we will tell you in writing if that changes. A division made today is a good guide to next year, then, and not a guarantee of it.
Everything below follows from those four numbers, and from nothing else.
Per head at the table: 3D2N
The 3D2N is the trip most parties of this size choose, so it goes first.
- 20 guests: IDR 7,400,000 (≈ USD 454) each.
- 24 guests: IDR 6,170,000 (≈ USD 379) each.
- 28 guests: IDR 5,290,000 (≈ USD 325) each.
Going from 20 guests to 28 cuts each person's share by close to 29 percent, worked out from the rounded figures above. That is the entire argument for filling the boat: the fare stays put while the seats multiply.
The argument has a ceiling, though. Twenty-eight is the number on standard beds, counting 8 queen cabins at 2 guests and 4 Coral cabins at 3. Extra beds exist in the Atlantic, Azure and Oceanic cabins on request, confirmed in writing, and we do not build a per-head figure on beds nobody has confirmed.
If your party falls in between, at 22 say, or 26, the division works the same way; ask us and we will do the sum with the fare in front of you.
The other three trip lengths
Same division, different fare.
- One-day trip: IDR 4,660,000 (≈ USD 286) at 20 guests, IDR 3,890,000 (≈ USD 239) at 24, IDR 3,330,000 (≈ USD 204) at 28.
- 2D1N: IDR 5,940,000 (≈ USD 364) at 20, IDR 4,950,000 (≈ USD 304) at 24, IDR 4,240,000 (≈ USD 260) at 28.
- 4D3N: IDR 8,000,000 (≈ USD 491) at 20, IDR 6,670,000 (≈ USD 409) at 24, IDR 5,710,000 (≈ USD 350) at 28.
A note on the edges. The one-day trip and the 4D3N carry a sample route and settle the order with the captain. The 2D1N and the 3D2N have set routes, and the 3D2N takes in Kelor, Rinca, Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Taka Makassar and Manta Point before it turns for home.
The cheapest per head is always the longest trip on the fullest boat. The cheapest per day is another matter, so do the sum for the days you will actually use.
Against a single cabin on the open trip
The honest comparison is with the other way aboard: the 3D2N open trip that starts on Monday & Friday, priced per person by cabin. The fares are IDR 4,450,000 (≈ USD 273) for a Coral sharing berth, IDR 5,200,000 (≈ USD 319) for Azure, IDR 5,700,000 (≈ USD 350) for a Coral private room, IDR 6,200,000 (≈ USD 380) for Pacific, IDR 7,450,000 (≈ USD 457) for Oceanic and IDR 8,950,000 (≈ USD 549) for Atlantic.
Put the whole-boat division beside them and a pattern appears. At 20 guests the share of IDR 7,400,000 (≈ USD 454) sits next to an Oceanic cabin. At 24, IDR 6,170,000 (≈ USD 379) sits next to Pacific. At 28, IDR 5,290,000 (≈ USD 325) falls between the Azure fare and the Coral private fare.
It is not a like-for-like comparison, and we would be poor bookkeepers to pretend otherwise. The open trip includes the guide and the photo and video documentation, and you share the boat with strangers. On a private charter the guide and documentation are extra, but the boat, the route and the pace belong to you. What the whole boat really buys is the right to decline company.
What a per-head figure leaves out
A division of the fare is not a budget. Outside it sit the Komodo National Park package, priced per trip type, the flights and hotels on either side, alcohol, tips for the crew and, on a private charter, the guide and the documentation, quoted separately on request. Paying by card link or at the card machine adds 3 percent, and PayPal 7.2 percent. Children aged 0 to 2 travel free.
Two mistakes come up again and again. The first is dividing by the people who say they are coming instead of the people who have paid a deposit. The second is forgetting that a party under 20 pays the same whole-boat fare, so each share climbs quickly as the group shrinks; at that size, ask us about single cabins before you commit to a date.
Splitting it fairly among 24 adults
Equal shares are simple, and they are right when the cabins are broadly alike. They grow awkward when the party includes a pair of grandparents who want a balcony and a pack of cousins perfectly happy in a bunk.
One method that works is to use the open-trip cabin fares as weights. Each person pays a share in proportion to the fare of the cabin they sleep in, scaled so that the shares add up to the whole-boat fare. It takes a minute in a spreadsheet and is hard to quarrel with, because the weights come from a price list and not from the organiser's sympathies.
Whoever organises the trip should collect the 50 percent deposit early, and the balance 30 days before sailing. We take the payment; the argument is yours.

FAQ
How much per person is Vhale for 24 guests?
On the 3D2N whole-boat fare it comes to IDR 6,170,000 (≈ USD 379) each, our own division rounded to the nearest 10,000 rupiah. The park package, flights, hotels, alcohol and tips are extra, and on a private charter so are the guide and the photo documentation.
Is there a lower price for a smaller group?
There is no smaller tier. A party under 20 pays the same whole-boat fare, so the share per person rises as the group shrinks. For a small group a single cabin on the open trip is often the better route; ask us for the dates.
Can 28 guests really sleep aboard?
Yes, on standard beds: 8 queen cabins at 2 guests each and 4 Coral cabins at 3. The Coral cabins are bunk rooms with one double bed and one single. Extra beds in some cabins are by request and confirmed in writing, and we never build a price on them.
Does the per-person price include the park fee?
No. The park package is billed separately and depends on the trip type. It is not part of the whole-boat fare, nor of the division on this page, so add it to your budget before you start dividing.
